Dr. Eric Manahan is a board certified general surgeon in Dalton, GA. He also serves as Medical Director of Southeastern Breast Care Specialists, which he founded. A Tennessee native, Dr. Manahan attended Auburn University for his undergraduate work. He returned home to medical school at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University where he also completed his general surgery residency. He subsequently completed an MBA at Auburn University.
Dr. Manahan currently serves on the board of directors for the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Dr. Manahan has been very active in Breast Fellow education and has served on the Education Committee since 2011. He has participated in multiple site visits as the ASBrS representative. He has served as faculty for the SSO Fellows Institute since 2012. He currently co-chairs the Fellows Education Committee, serves on the Education Executive Steering Committee, and is a member of the Corporate Relations Committee. He also serves as the ASBrS representative to the Society of Surgical Oncology and serves on their Training Committee. He has special interests in percutaneous breast procedures and is involved with several national clinical trials relating to breast cancer including cryoablation.
Dr. Manahan also has a very busy general surgery and trauma practice in Dalton. He has recently served as the chairman of the Department of Surgery at Hamilton Medical Center. He currently serves as chair of the Cancer Committee at Hamilton and severs on the Trauma Committee. He enjoys the variety of surgery that a general surgeon can perform in a small town.
Dr. Manahan is married with twin daughters and serves as an active elder at Christ Church Presbyterian in Dalton, GA where he also chairs the finance committee.
