Dr. Manahan joined Dalton Surgical Group in 2001. A native of Tennessee, Dr. Manahan attended Auburn University for his undergraduate work. He then attended medical school at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City Tennessee. He remained at East Tennessee State University for his General Surgery Residency. He recently completed a physician’s Masters of Business Administration degree at Auburn, University.
Dr. Manahan currently serves as the Chief of Surgery at Hamilton Medical Center. He is an active member on the Medical Executive Committee, Cancer Committee, Trauma Committee and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. He is Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is currently a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Southern Medical Association to name a few. He is certified by the American College of Surgeons as a provider in Advanced Trauma Life Support.
Dr. Manahan has a special interest in Breast Cancer and serves as the medical director of Southeastern Breast Care Specialists. He is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and serves on the education committee for this national society. He has special skills in ultrasound, percutaneous breast biopsy and partial breast radiation balloon placement (Mammosite).
Dr. Manahan is married with two children and serves as an Elder at Christ Church Presbyterian in Dalton.
